PENAMPANG: The new Foton View C2 and CS2 Window Van is expected to do well in the overall industries in tourism-led Sabah.

“Indeed the CS2D (diesel) and C2P (petrol) had already been brought to Sabah earlier this year. We only officially launched it today,” said Chok Yung Kiong, the managing director of Universal Motor (UM) Sdn Bhd, the exclusive dealer in Sabah, during the official launching ceremony by UM and Berjaya China Motor (BCM) Sdn Bhd here yesterday.

However, he said 40 units have already been delivered to customers so far this year.

“Our booking is very encouraging since the production of the Toyota Hiace Window van had been stopped three months ago.

“We expect sales will reach 20 to 30 units a month by the fourth quarter of 2017,” Chok revealed.

Datuk Donald Choo, the chief executive officer of BCM, the exclusive distributor and marketer for the Chinese Commercial Automotive marque Foton Motor Group (FMG) in Malaysia, said the company believes there is great potential for growth for Foton and they were confident with the sales performance of their vehicles in Sabah.

“These vehicles may be sold to the tourism sector, school bus operators, government offices, corporate companies, factories, courier agencies and many more.

“We are confident that this product will do very well in Sabah,” he said, adding that demand has been increasing in the state.

Customers can get the all-new C2D with 4JBI 2.8 Turbo Intercooler Euro 4 Diesel Engine, the CS2 2.8 14-seater, C2 2.8D 10 seater and CS 2.0P 10-seater from UM in Sabah.

“All our model line-up is for you to match with your business needs. We seriously consider your usage and we bring in so many variants to match whatever your business needs, whether it be luxury or economical,” said Chok.

“I believe every one of you here worry about the spare parts and after sales service. Regarding after sales service and spare parts, we are very committed.

“UM will take full responsibility of it and that’s why all of us are here,” added the managing director at the ceremony.

Mayor Datuk Yeo Boon Hai also attended the launching ceremony yesterday.

In conjunction with the launch, UM announced a RM3,000 discount promotion for every purchase of the CS 2 as well as C 22.8 D, and C 2 2.0 P, sold at RM128,000, RM102,000 and RM89,000 respectively.

Each purchase also comes with a five-year or 150,000 kilometres equivalent warranty.

All prices are already inclusive of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).

The new View C2 Diesel is powered by a 2.8L turbodiesel engine supported by“Japaneseengineered technology ”. Paired with a five-speed manual transmission, the engine produces a total output of 94hp @ 3,600rpm with a maximum torque of 225Nm @ 2,300rpm. The engine fitted with a Bosch high pressure common rail system, turbocharge intercooler and electronic control EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation), which is compliant with EURO 4 emission standards, will offer customers proven environmental friendly performance, reliability and high-efficiency, which translates to lower operating costs.

Similarly, the View C2 petrol variant is also equipped with a Japanese-engineered 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine, which outputs 127.4hp @ 5,000rpm with 193Nm of torque @ 3,200-4,500 rpm and also paired with a five-speed manual transmission. The double-overhead cam shaft, 16-valve engine adopts an advanced low emission air passage and combustion chamber technique with a continuously variable valve timing mechanism and optimized intake and exhaust system design. The availability of both the diesel and petrol engine variants is also set to offer greater flexibility for customers in servicing their transportation needs.

BCM is offering the View C2 model in both high-roof window van and standard roof panel van configurations for a wide range of transport applications. Both designs are available as a 10-seat passenger window van as well as two-seat van in cargo form measuring 4,840mm in length, 1,695mm in width and riding on a 2,570mm wheelbase. The high-roofed van measures a height of 2,240mm for ample headroom with 1,980mm on offer for the standard-roof panel van.
