Do self-reflection before slamming govt, Warisan told

-

SEMPORNA: Parti Warisan Sabah leaders need to reflect on themselves before slamming the developments that were undertaken by the Barisan Nasional government, said Assistant Finance Minister Datuk Ramlee Marhaban.

Warisan's actions in badmouthing the government's development projects showed that they were desperate to gain support from the people as they had run out of issues and need to cover up the party's lack of support, Ramlee said.

"The efforts and success of the government in developing the country are irrefutable, and the efforts are recognised by the support given by the people.

"The leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak has always emphasised the welfare of the people and Sabah has never been sidelined from development," he stressed.

According to Ramlee, who is also state Umno Deputy Head of Information and Bugaya assemblyman, the state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman has managed to develop the state in various sectors.

Musa not only managed to unite the people but also developed various sectors including economy, tourism and many more, he pointed out.

Ramlee added that the development carried out by the Barisan Nasional government was undeniable as every development project will be studied to ensure it will benefit the people.

"They (Parti Warisan Sabah) are actually upset by the strong support for BN, and as such, they deliberately raise various issues and defamation to confuse the people.

"The people should know that Warisan is only good at making promises and slamming the government but they have no ability to carry out their promises," he said.

Furthermore, Ramlee said it was not right to slam the BN government when they were the ones who actually failed to do any good for the people, especially in Semporna.

He said the leaders of Parti Warisan Sabah who were former leaders in Umno in particular should realise their own failures to carry out development for the people.

Ramlee then alleged that various projects which they had carried out may have had hidden agendas, such as the rural road project which was built at a private plantation and the solar system project in the Semporna islands.

He claimed that since then, one of the solar system projects was no longer functional even though the project has yet to reach five years of usage.

The projects also include a water plant in Sungai Intan worth RM47 million which failed to function due to lack of water sources and could not supply water to the people in Semporna, Ramlee added.

"Before undertaking any project, a detailed study should be conducted to ensure that the project will work and benefit the community.

"Unlike the Sungai Intan water plant project, this project was recklessly launched without detailed study, or maybe there was a hidden agenda behind the project," he said.

Ramlee noted it was fortunate that the state government has approved the construction of a water plant in Sungai Kalumpang to overcome the water supply problem.

The water plant in Sungai Kalumpang with a capacity of 30 million litres cubic will be able to supply clean water supply for about 150,000 residents in the district until 2025, he said.
