World-class creativity on show at Forest City balloon competition
KUCHING: Top balloon masters from Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China were at Forest City Sales Gallery to showcase their talents in a balloon competition on Aug 26 and 27.
The international balloon competition was divided into the “Balloon Fairy Dress Competition” and “Medium Sculpture Balloon Competition”.
Six international teams completed the “Medium Sculpture Balloon Competition” on Aug 26 while the first international balloon competition of Forest City kicked off the following day.
Six Forest City staff were recruited as fairy models to wear the balloon dress creations on a T-stage during the creative fashion show.
The “Medium Sculpture Balloon Competition” was jointly held by Forest City and De Jackie Inspirations, a famous creative balloon company.
The Color Life team from Hong Kong was declared the champion with their rock chimpanzee creation winning favour with its domineering and cool appearance.
O-Peh-Lai from Hong Kong and Taiwan, and Assault Squad from Hong Kong and Macao ranked second and third respectively.
Meanwhile, UES Party from China was the champion in the “Balloon Fairy Dress Competition”, followed by The Miracles Team from Malaysia and Thailand, and GoArt Korea from South Korea.
It is particularly noteworthy that Ko Hong Seok, a world renowned balloon master as well as the leader of the South Korean team, is a famous balloon master in South Korea.
Due to visual impairment from an early age, his vision is only 10 to 15 per cent that of most people. Balloon competitions may not seem to be as thrilling as other sports events, but the efforts and persistence it requires cannot be underestimated.
Forest City will be holding more interesting activities in August and September, including an environmental and animal themed exhibition next month. There will be all kinds of animal characters, animal DIY activities and children’s animal cosplay.
