There will also be an eco-art carnival taking place during the event, said programme director Melissa Leong.

“The carnival will be held on the sixth floor of Suria Sabah and artists will exhibit as well as sell their art merchandise,” she said.

There will also be a wax straw making workshop to help encourage people to stop using plastic straws and find an alternative.

She said the Sabah Society would also be presenting a talk on Mount Kinabalu.

Melissa also mentioned the BEFF ‘Suara Community Filmmaking’ programme where they would partner with nongovernmental organisations and villagers to create two to threeminute films so that their stories would be told.

She said the programme began in 2011 and this year, some 40 participants would be taking part.

“They come from 40 villages around Sabah,” she said.

Some of their works would be featured on Sept 24.
