Now it's the Strongwoman Challenge
PENAMPANG: The excitement amplifies as the upcoming Strongwoman Challenge 2017 gets interest from Bruneian, Radimah Mahmud, 35.
Radimah tips the scales at 98kg and is definitely the one to watch at the Pasar Malam Donggongon, here on Sept 23-24.
She is the tournament's second entrant from outside Sabah. The other is Sharon Jen, 47, from Johor. Sharon confirmed her entry last week.
Tournament coordinator Roger Fredrick, when met here yesterday, said that among other entries are locals Genevieve Simon, 35, from Penampang and Verone Lee, 38, from Manggatal.
“The inclusion of participants from outside Sabah will make the challenge more interesting and prestigious.
“We hope that more locals will join because they have home advantage over the non-locals and also because this is the first strongman event for women,” he said.
“More entries are expected to roll in including from outside Sabah because registration is open until the day of the event,” Roger added.
The Sabah Strongwoman Challenge is jointly organised by the Penampang Tourism Action Council (PTAC) and AtukoiFM with the cooperation of the Penampang Municipal Council and ProEve as the sponsor (sound system and lighting).
Participants will be competing in six classic strongman challenges namely Atlas Stone, Tyre Flip, Car Deadlift, Yoke Walk, Truck Pull and Farmer's Walk.
Attractive cash prizes are up for grabs including RM1,500 for the champion, RM1,000 for the runner-up, RM700 for third place, RM500 for fourth place plus RM400, RM300, RM200 and RM100 for fifth to eighth places.
