“Through this competition, we want to show young people how much the tax profession has changed, how vital tax knowledge is in the world of business and finance, and how business is managed in and across different cultures.”
Amarjeet added, “The tax landscape is evolving rapidly, with changes taking place both locally and globally.
“The increased regulatory changes and focus on tax; the rise in tax digitization and technology investments; and the increasing trend in outsourcing of tax functions have elevated the profile of the tax profession like never before.
“This is certainly an exciting time for young graduates seeking to build a career in tax and become trusted business advisors.”
Farah Rosley, partner and programme director of the EY Young Tax Professional of the Year Malaysia, shared, “The EY Young Tax Professional of the Year serves as a valuable platform for the participants to enrich their experience in the field of tax.
“At the international level of the competition, the participants will be challenged with case studies and interviews before expert judges, who will be looking for evidence of creative and analytical strengths, as well as practical skills.
“Our Malaysian panel of judges were impressed by the standard of the essay submissions and oral presentations of the case study by the Malaysian finalists this year. We have no doubt that Marissa will do Malaysia proud at the international competition.”
