Dr M entitled to opinions

KOTA KINABALU: Amid attacks by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad on the United Malays National Organisation (Umno), Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Musa Aman has urged Umno leaders to continue working hard for the people.

The former prime minister was entitled to his own opinions but Umno leaders should remain focused in carrying out their duties to the people, Musa said during last night’s Sabah Umno Liaison Committee meeting.

“The important thing is that Umno and Barisan National (BN) in Sabah continue to work, meet the people and go down to the field to bring whatever development we can and fulfil our promises to continue providing Sabahans with the best.

“As I have said from the beginning, Sabahans are smart enough to evaluate for themselves what is right and wrong, good and bad,” he said.

Musa added that Umno and BN maintain good rapport with other leaders and political parties, with the common goal of developing Sabah.

Earlier, Biro Tatanegara (BTN) Sabah director Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali handed over 600 national flags to Malaysia Day cochairman Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun, in anticipation of the upcoming celebration.

He said the flags are to be distributed by Masidi to Umno leaders throughout Sabah, who will subsequently distribute the flags to community leaders at the grassroots.

This, said Armizan, is to promote the spirit of nationhood leading to September 16, which he added was part of Sabahans’ aspirations for Malaysia Day to be given as much emphasis as Independence Day.

Musa also expressed hope that BN will send representatives or its members to be part of the national celebration.
