Umno members have to accept decision on candidates — Nasrun

LAHAD DATU: Umno members need to agree with the leadership’s decision in determinin­g candidates who will contest in the next general election.

Deputy Plantation Industries and Commoditie­s Minister Datuk Datu Nasrun Datu Mansur said Umno members must also show cooperatio­n in ensuring the candidate’s victory through hard work and mutual agreement.

Nasrun said the Barisan Nasional (BN) victory in the last general election was due to members putting the party as priority and agreeing with the decision of the highest leadership in choosing winnable candidates.

“In the next general election, I think it is very important that we must abide by the decision of the leadership and work hard to ensure Barisan Nasional’s candidates win,” said Nasrun, after opening the Silam Parliament Service Center (PKPS) at the Usia building here.

Commenting on the service centre, Nasrun who is also Silam MP, said the centre would serve as a liaison between Umno and the grassroots.

He said all machinery should be mobilized to convince the people that it is necessary to keep the existing government to ensure that BN continues to carry out its responsibi­lity to defend the people.

At the event, Nasrun presented contributi­on to 30 asnaf from Lahad Datu town.
