Five illegals, five drug suspects caught in raid on entertainment outlet
KOTA KINABALU: Police raided an entertainment outlet in Penampang and roped in five illegal immigrants and five patrons who tested positive for drugs.
Sabah Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Datuk Salehhudin Abd Rahman said the illegal immigrants were Filipinas aged between 19 and 35.
Also detained was a 43-yearold man who was looking after the entertainment outlet that was operating after the permitted hours, he said.
Salehhudin in a statement yesterday said the raid was conducted about 3am by the CID, Narcotics Department and the Integrity and Standard Compliance Department.
“The raiding team screened a total of 94 people who were in the premises at that time; 59 men and 35 women. After the screening, they arrested the five Filipinas and the man looking after the place.
“They also conducted urine tests on those in the outlet where two men and three women, all aged between 20 and 27 tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine,” he disclosed.
The offences have been classified under the Immigration Act 159/1963, the Public Entertainment Ordinance 1958 for operating after permitted hours and the Dangerous Drug Act, he said.
