Strong winds wreak havoc in Labuan

LABUAN: Strong winds continued to wreak havoc in Labuan, blowing off rooftops, damaging houses and uprooting trees Sunday night till early Monday.

At least the roofs of two houses in Kg Bebuloh were blown off and badly damaged.

However, no casualty was reported.

Labuan Parliamentary Constituency Community Service Office chief Basran Yunus said immediate assistance would be channelled to the victims.

“We have received reports on the number of affected houses. We have also ascertained suitable assistance for them, including materials to repair their houses, which will be channelled immediately,” he told Bernama.

The Labuan Fire and Rescue Department also received a number of emergency calls concerning fallen and uprooted trees along the street in several villages. - Bernama
