-

LABUAN: Encouraging visitors to explore areas away from the normal tourist attractions is a challenge for any state or city.

Therefore, the Labuan local authorities always encouraged tourism agencies to apply any kind of platform including an old game with new technology to lure visitors to great locations throughout the island.

With approval from Tourism Malaysia and supported by the Labuan Corporation, a treasure hunt event which is open to Malaysians is being organised and would be held on Sept 30.

In the style of ‘Amazing Race and Treasure Hunt’, with element of Fear Factor, the ‘National Day 2017 Papan Adventure’ is being organised aimed at popularising the island’s tourism spot of Pulau Papan especially for domestic tourism.

“The treasure hunt will be conducted in Pulau Papan, exposing participants to the rich culture and uniqueness of the Papan Island, Labuan’s cuisine and its natural wonders,” said Labuan Corporation advisory council chairman Senator Datuk Bashir Alias at a press conference here yesterday.

He said the participants would also have the experience of traditional game as part of the adventure event activities.

“An old fashioned game with a modern twist could draw tourists deeper into the island,” Bashir said.

The event, organised by Pro LVY Ent of Labuan would be guided by experienced trail master Suhaimi Zainal Abidin.
