Driver jailed for punching wife

KUALA LUMPUR: A personal driver was sentenced to four months' jail by the Magistrate's Court here yesterday for causing hurt on his wife three days ago.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahid handed down the sentence on Aminuddin Samad, 47, who pleaded guilty to punching his wife, aged 50, on the face, head and at Lorong Raja Muda Musa 5, Kampung Baru, here, at 10.15 pm last Sept 9.

The charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carries an imprisonment for up to two years.

In mitigation, Aminuddin, who was unrepresented, said he was the sole bread-winner for the family.

“I also have diabetes and a child who is sitting for the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) this year,” he said.

Deputy public prosecutor Noor Elynna Hanim Abdul Halim prosecuted.

According to the facts of the case, Aminuddin had beaten up his wife while accusing her of looking for another man and instigating their children to hate him. - Bernama
