Nancy Wu aghast over bed scene with Steven Ma in period drama

-

HONG KONG: Actress Nancy Wu is aghast over a bed scene she had shot with co-star Steven Ma in Deep in the Realm of Conscience.

They were portraying Emperor Xuanzong and Empress Wang of Tang.

Recalled a recoiling Nancy: “It was skin to skin. Steven was shirtless, but we wore wigs.”

Steven arranged for someone to snap a photo of the scene, and an aghast Nancy exclaimed: “Please don’t share it! We can’t have this leak out! This is too much for me!”

Getting into the right mood for that scene took some effort.

Said Nancy: “We’re both the kind of people who would do our own thing first before we start adjusting to our relationship on the show. But in the end, I really did feel like we were a married couple.”

Steven tried hard to stifle a guffaw as he said: “I was actually worried we’d look more like brother and sister! Good thing I had kept myself in good shape!”

Steven is 45, at an age when keeping in shape takes a lot more effort.

Both stars were being interviewed during a radio show to promote the series. The series is widely regarded as the ‘spiritual sequel’ to the 2009 TVB anniversary drama Beyond the Realm of Conscience.

Said Steven: “Looking back at our filmography, I’d say we’ve only collaborated in one together, 2012’s Daddy Good Deeds. But we didn’t share many scenes together, so we weren’t very close, and we didn’t talk much either. However, I do remember that one of our filming days was on her birthday, so I gave her a teddy bear.”

A laughing Steven wisecracked: “I have already deleted the picture, but there’s a copy saved in the computer.”
