Charred human remains found in car

PENAMPANG: Charred remains of a person believed to be a man were found inside a Proton Saga car near the Sinar Mustika Restaurant in Donggongon early yesterday.

Penampang police chief DSP Rosley bin Hobden said police could not identify the remains that were found around 4.50 am.

Rosley said the police were notified of the incident and when a police team arrived at the scene, the Penampang Fire and Rescue Department personnel were still putting out the fire that had engulfed the car.

After putting out the fire, Fire and Rescue personnel found the charred remains in the driver’s seat.

The remains were taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for a post-mortem while efforts are being made to identify the victim and contact the victim’s family members,” he said yesterday.

Rosley urged anyone with informatio­n in the incident to come forward to assist police in their investigat­ion of the case which has being classified as sudden death.
