Christina grateful for appointment as Pakatan VP
KOTA KINABALU: Pakatan Harapan national vice president Christina Liew has described her appointment as inclusiveness of leaders from Sabah and Sarawak.
Liew, who is also Sabah PKR chief, said this when asked to comment on her appointment announced by Pakatan Harapan chairman Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
She expressed her gratitude to the PH national leadership for the appointment.
“This appointment is a platform through which I can raise the many issues affecting Sabah that need to be addressed and resolved at the federal level,” she said, adding that some of the issues and problems were education, health, poverty, housing, immigration and security.
“Together, we, at Pakatan Harapan, can fulfil the aspirations of the people of Sabah,” the Api Api assemblywoman said.
Pakatan Harapan on Monday announced the appointment of DAP’s M. Kulasegaran and Liew as new vice presidents. The opposition coalition also appointed Amanah’s Husam Musa as its new treasurer, replacing Kulasegaran.
“The amendments were made so that we can represent all races in Malaysia,” said Dr Mahathir during a press conference at the Amanah’s headquarters in Kuala Lumpur after chairing a PH presidential council meeting.
PH now has six vice presidents, with the others are PKR deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali, Bersatu deputy president Mukhriz Mahathir, Sarawak DAP chief Chong Chieng Jen and Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub.
