Latest Kokol Nature Adventure Challenge on September 24

-

KOTA KINABALU: A total of 300 participants will be vying for honours in the Kokol Nature Adventure Challenge happening at the Villaku Boutique Homestay at Kg Sinagang Kokol, Menggatal later this month.

Casero Events’ Steve Johnny Mositun said the fourth edition of this annual competition is slated on September 24.

“This year’s competition is limited to 300 entries only as the venue has limited space and we also consider it as one of our exclusive runs for the Kokol Nature Adventure.

“All participants are advised to check their registered names on our official page,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Steve said the collection of race packs would be held at Suria Sabah Shopping Mall on September 22. Participants are urged to come between 11am and 7pm.

Alternatively, they could also turn up at the tournament venue at the Kokol Villaku Homestay one day before the tournament day.

The tournament is jointly organised by Casero Events and Community Development Leader for Inanam, Fredoline Totin.

The competition features four categories, namely Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran and Women’s Veteran.

The open categories cover 17km, while those competing in the veteran events will run for 15km.

Attractive cash prizes worth more than RM9,000 will be up for grabs for the top 10 winners of all categories.

Towards this end, Steve said this year’s edition featured one of the more challenging routes for a mountain terrain race, even for seasoned campaigners.

Steve, who is also the race director, urged all participants to be fully prepared, especially in bringing their mandatory kits as there would be a limited number of water stations.

He also hoped that the weather would be good on the tournament day but warned participants to be ready for any outcome.
