MITI urges Pos Malaysia to set up e-commerce logistic hub

-

NANNING (CHINA): The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) will meet with Pos Malaysia Bhd to discuss setting up an e-commerce logistics hub in the country.

Second MITI Minister Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan said it was timely for Pos Malaysia to transform into an e-commerce logistics entity, similar to China Post.

“When I return, I want to talk to Pos Malaysia about converting Malaysia to an e-commerce logistics hub. I got this inspiration from the China Post, which has more than 50,000 post offices and branches,” he told reporters, after witnessing the signing of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) yesterday.

The Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade) signed MoUs with China Post Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Branch and KCO Logistics and Distribution Services Sdn Bhd.

The MoUs will pave the way for Malaysian enterprises to enter the China market.

Ong witnessed the exchange of documents between the parties.

“The cooperative relationship between the mentioned parties is aimed at improving the business environment and promoting more effective market access by Malaysian companies.

“This can be done through the establishment of a Malaysia Pavilion in China Post’s ecommerce portal, ule.com, and marketed through its offline stores and network in China.

“The areas of cooperation includes the establishment and operation of the Malaysia Pavilion in China Post’s online and offline platforms,” he said.
