Sabah firm to expand, strengthen core business
KOTA KINABALU: Syarikat Lui Kim Chock Sdn Bhd (LKC) is poised to strengthen and expand its core business of fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) trading when its RM20 million Tawau and Sandakan operations centre launches into full operation in two years’ time.
LKC managing director Datuk Michael Lui said the company has begun to diversify into palm oil plantation, property development and tourism in light of the inevitable changes and challenges.
Nevertheless, he said FMCG trading was and will always be LKC’s core business.
“The moving of our warehouse from Kolombong to Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) marked the transformation of our FMCG core business from wholesaling to authorised distributorship in our trade operations centre.
“Inline with this transformation, our Tawau and Sandakan operations centre which costs about RM20 million will be in full operation in two years’ time.
“This will further strengthen and continue to expand FMCG trading as our core business development in the future,” said Michael during the 40th anniversary dinner of LKC here on Friday.
On a more personal note, Michael said his father passed away suddenly 37 years ago when he and his siblings were still in school.
“This sudden turn of events meant that I as the eldest son, alongside my brothers Peter and Joseph had to take up the responsibility of leading our family,” he shared.
During the difficult times, Michael’s grieving mother kept reminding her children to work hard.
With his mother and God’s love, Michael said the family banded together and worked as a team.
“We always practise honesty and sincerity as our marketing strategy.
“We are proud that our third generation are also actively involved in our business today,” he said.
As LKC celebrates its 40th anniversary, Michael thanked the business partners, employees and bankers for their strong support all these years.
Also present were Michael’s mother, Wong Nyuk Fun, and his spouse, Datin Jenny Wong.
