SEMPORNA: The paper work for a proposal to upgrade Pulau Bum Bum into a sub-district will be forwarded to the Cabinet next week.

State Assistant Minister Datuk Ramlee Marahaban said he was informed by the Economic Planning Unit that the paper work was ready and it would be taken to the state cabinet meeting for further action.

Ramlee said if there was justification for the preparation of paper to upgrade Pulau Bum Bum, it would be endorsed at the cabinet meeting.

“The paper work is just a formality as principally, this proposal has been agreed to by Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman during his visit to Semporna several months ago.

“At this moment, the State Public Service Department informed that organisational structure for Pulau Bum Bum sub-district was also ready and this is just a matter of endorsing it,” he said.

According to Ramlee, once Pulau Bum Bum became a sub-district, it would have a huge impact on the economy, especially in the area as it would serve to complement Semporna.

Ramlee, who is also Bugaya assemblyman, said this when met after the “Leaders with PDM” programme at Pulau Sumandi.

He added that the people in Pulau Bum Bum could show their ability by utilizing resources in the areas.

Meanwhile, Ramlee who is also State Umno deputy information head in his speech at the programme said he would review the problems of the people in Pulau Sumandi, including in Kampung Tandoan on the issue of land ownership.

Ramlee added that land issue had always been his priority and he would strive to find the best solution to solve the problem, including using a programme that had been introduced by government, such as PANTAS programme.
