Kinarut has potential to be satellite town — Susan
KINARUT: Kinarut has huge potential to be developed into one of the satellite towns of Kota Kinabalu in view of its rapid population growth, said WSG Group chairlady Datuk Susan Wong Siew Guen.
The century-old township had achieved significant progress in recent years, particularly the numerous housing projects that had been developed in Kinarut, she said during a dinner to celebrate the completion of the upgraded Tien Nam Shi Temple on Friday.
She said Tien Nam Shi was a historical temple that had attracted many foreign tourists whenever they visited the Kinarut township on the train service operated by Sutera Harbour Resort every Wednesday and Saturday.
“Apart from experiencing the vibrant tamu in Kinarut, most tourists will also visit Tien Nam Shi Temple.
“Tien Nam Shi Temple has become a tourist attraction, especially statues of The Eighteen Arhats at the temple,” she said.
She added that the Lok Kawi Zoo and beach resorts near Kinarut had also attracted many tourists.
In view of Kinarut’s development potential, Wong said investing in properties in the town, such as The Palm Condominium, would yield good return on investment.
Tien Nam Shi Temple was built in 1950. In 2002, the then Chief Minister Tan Sri Chong Kah Kiat officiated at the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrading of the temple.
