RM450 million financing still available for bumi entrepreneurs
KOTA KINABALU: Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Sabah have a chance at more than RM450 million of the National Entrepreneurial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN) financing in 2017.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin said TEKUN aims to channel RM500 million in financing to 40,000 people in Malaysia, this year.
He added, up to August 2017, TEKUN had given out RM41.6 million to 2,669 entrepreneurs nationwide.
“When we talk about a business, the main arising issue is capital. Therefore, the government has established various types of funding to help Bumiputeras attain business capital loan,” said Yahya when officiating at the TEKUN Nasional Basic Entrepreneurship Seminar opening ceremony in Putatan yesterday.
“I have been informed, since being established in 1998 until August 2017, TEKUN Nasional has channeled RM4.9 billion to 395,753 entrepreneurs, involving 516,851 loans.
“For Sabah, RM408 million had been channeled to 40,405 entrepreneurs, involving 50,173 loans in the same period,” he revealed.
Yahya reminded all the entrepreneurs in the state who had obtained loans for capital from Tekun Nasional to repay the loans according to the set schedule to enable the agency to help more Bumiputera entrepreneurs who needed capital assistance.
