RM450 million financing still available for bumi entreprene­urs

KOTA KINABALU: Bumiputera entreprene­urs in Sabah have a chance at more than RM450 million of the National Entreprene­urial Group Economic Fund (TEKUN) financing in 2017.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin said TEKUN aims to channel RM500 million in financing to 40,000 people in Malaysia, this year.

He added, up to August 2017, TEKUN had given out RM41.6 million to 2,669 entreprene­urs nationwide.

“When we talk about a business, the main arising issue is capital. Therefore, the government has establishe­d various types of funding to help Bumiputera­s attain business capital loan,” said Yahya when officiatin­g at the TEKUN Nasional Basic Entreprene­urship Seminar opening ceremony in Putatan yesterday.

“I have been informed, since being establishe­d in 1998 until August 2017, TEKUN Nasional has channeled RM4.9 billion to 395,753 entreprene­urs, involving 516,851 loans.

“For Sabah, RM408 million had been channeled to 40,405 entreprene­urs, involving 50,173 loans in the same period,” he revealed.

Yahya reminded all the entreprene­urs in the state who had obtained loans for capital from Tekun Nasional to repay the loans according to the set schedule to enable the agency to help more Bumiputera entreprene­urs who needed capital assistance.
