Heng claims Sabah Strongest Woman title

KOTA KINABALU: Heng Shu Xia showed her prowess by emerging as the first champion of the Sabah Strongest Woman Open Challenge held at the Penampang Nite Market in Donggongon near here yesterday.

Shu Xia, or more popularly known to her friends as Joyce, did it in style too as she won five out of six discipline­s en route to lifting the title.

She led after Saturday’s opening day competitio­ns, winning the Vehicle Pull, Farmer’s Walk and Tyre Flip for a perfect 36 points.

Joyce never looked back as top placings for Car Deadlift and Yoke Walk added a couple of 12 points when the challenges resumed yesterday.

With the title firmly in her grip, Joyce could afford to ease off in the final discipline, Atlas Stones, where she finished third for 10 points.

With a total points of 70, the Kota Kinabalu lass who is also a bodybuilde­r, defeated 12 other contestant­s to the top prize money of RM1,500.

Venecia Astrid of Kota Kinabalu settled for second place which carried RM1,000 in prize money after she collected 61 points.

Frahsillia Onnie of Kota Marudu, who who won the Atlas Stones discipline, was third with 60.5 points to receive RM700 for her effort.

Noorlisa Rosly of Labuan with 46 points, Verone Lee of Manggatal (40 points), Radimah Mahmud of Brunei (38 points), Meliana Jelis of Keningau (33 points) and Sharon Jen of Tambunan (32.5 points) completed the top eight winners list.

The fourth to eighth placing received RM500, RM400, RM300, RM200 and RM100 respective­ly.

Guest of honour Datuk Donald Mojuntin, Penampang district officer Luvita Koisun, organising chairman Carl Moosom and tournament coordinato­r were among those present at the prize presentati­on-cum-closing of the event.

Penampang Tourism Action Council (PTAC) and AtukoiFM organised the event with cooperatio­n from Penampang District Council with Pro’Eve as the official sound and light.
