Women not lagging behind men — Hamisa
TAWAU:The progress report of national achievement shows that the country has succeeded in realizing the equality and empowerment of women, compared with other countries.
Disclosing this yesterday, Assistant Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Hamisa Samat said the theme “Women: The Transformer of the Global Economy” was chosen on the basis of recognition and appreciation of the nation, on the contribution of women both in entrepreneurship, as well as in the corporate world, to transform and contribute to the domestic economy as well as to be competitive up to global level.
Officiating at the ‘Wanita Berkarisma Persis Mutiara’ program at the District Library auditorium, she said the theme for the program was a coincidence, highlighting the role of women like a pearl.
Hamisa said women was an important part of being able to survive in realizing the ideals of the nation, in many aspects, especially in producing a balanced, inclusive generation of various aspects.
She said women were not left behind by the men, in mobilizing their support for the country’s success, and becoming the agents of the country’s economic landscape to achieve the nation’s aspiration of achieving a developed nation status with high income by the year 2020.
Nevertheless, although women can be proud of their achievements so far, it sould not make them immersive in empowering the agenda of women, families, communities and nations, she said.
On the contrary, she said today’s success should be a catalyst for women to continue, to double the struggle to uphold the status and position of women, and to gain recognition as a joint contributor to the process of development and modernization of the nation.
Hamisa said she hoped that such a program would encourage women to move forward, in order to achieve an increase in the formation of women charisma, in promoting women towards equality and empowerment of mind, attitude and spiritual.
