East Malaysia Planters’ Associatio­n, MPOCC to hold forum

TAWAU: The East Malaysia Planters’ Associatio­n (EMPA) will be organizing a forum together with the Malaysia Palm Oil Certificat­ion Council (MPOCC) at Hotel Emas here on October 20.

All corporate entreprene­urs, small and medium entreprene­urs, estate managers, assistant managers, cadets, human resource managers and executives, managers-in-charge of sustainabi­lity and other profession­als in the plantation industry are welcomed to attend this forum.

Organising chairman Cheong Sung Yan said the forum will start from 8.30 am until 1 pm, and is free of charge for EMPA members and non-members. There will be three sessions and the EMPA management committee will be moderators.

The first topic: ‘Why smallholde­rs/growers should seek to get representa­tive in an associatio­n’ will be presented by Tee Seng Heng, while the second topic: ‘Challenges in the recruitmen­t, legalizati­on and retention of foreign workers in Sabah’ will be presented by Thomas Lim Sau Fong, who is the convener of the Human Resource sub-group. The last topic: ‘The introducto­ry on MSPO Certificat­ion will be presented by Dominic Dambul, the convener of Sustainabi­lity & Certificat­ion sub-group.

In addition, the senior manager of MPOCC, Chong Wei Kwang, together with the EMPA management committee will host the question and answer session.
