16 restaurants, rented houses booked
Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) issued 16 court summonses to restaurants and rented houses in Sinsuran on Tuesday during its Ops Saman Mahkamah On The Spot (An Li er).
KOTA KINABALU: Kota Kinabalu City Hall (DBKK) issued 16 court summonses to restaurants and rented houses in Sinsuran here on Tuesday during its Ops Saman Mahkamah On The Spot (Anti Litter).
Its Deputy Director-General, Noorliza Ag Alip, disclosed that DBKK had previously issued friendly reminders to the premises but they refused to comply with the orders, thus breaching the 3(a), 6 and 3(c) by-laws.
Two of the court summonses were issued against restaurant owners who had committed offences such as obstructing pedestrian walkways, having expired licenses and the unauthorized use of canopies.
Meanwhile, the other 14 court summonses were issued against house owners for dumping rubbish at public areas.
Prior to the issuance of the court summonses, City Hall personnel had conducted two inspections in the said area and they had even left warning notices on the doors of premises, but were ignored by the premises owners who will be brought to court on October 20.
“Prior to today’s operation and for this year alone, City Hall has recorded 189 various offences. We have covered areas like Sembulan, Sinsuran, Bandaran Berjaya, Signal Hill, Lintas Plaza and Luyang,” Noorliza told reporters when met at the operation.
Commenting on some of the excuses that were given during the operation, Noorliza said that most of them claimed that they were only residents and not owners.
She also said that residents were the ones who were actually responsible in maintaining the cleanliness of the premises.
In line with this, Noorliza urged all citizens to keep the city clean to prevent the spread of diseases.
