Limkokwing University holds seminar, workshops on digital painting
CYBERJAYA: Art can be interpreted differently, in so many ways, methods and even with technology.
Limkokwing University recently highlighted this by hosting a renowned visual artist, Oscar Olivares, at the Hall of Fame for a digital painting seminar and exhibition in front of more than 100 students.
Digital Painting is a method of creating an art object through a digital by incorporating a technique of digital art commonly used in a computer.
As a method of creating the art, digital painter combine traditional painting medium, such as acrylic paint, oils, ink, and watercolor, which then be applied to pigment of traditional carriers, such as canvas through computer software printer.
This method results in visual characteristics that could not be achieved through by human.
Through this event, students are able to build confidence through exercises that help them to explore different types of painting techniques. The programme aims to develop technical and artistic talents digital painting and provide opportunities to develop a high level of skills in this art form.
It also enables students to acquire theories with sets of exercises and lessons to develop your painting vocabulary and skills and at the same time, develop your own unique way of creating paintings to express their imaginations, intuitions, and powers of observation.
Hailed from the city of Caracas, Venezuela, Oscar used a mixture of digital painting with illustration to create a Mixed Digital Painting format that was showcased through an exhibition at the University.
Oscar also presented his works through seminar and workshops to inspired Limkokwing University students in venturing into art world through a different medium. The 21-years old illustrator specialised in digital painting and has had several successful exhibitions in more than 20 countries around the world.
Entitled ‘Awaken the hero within’, Oscar provided steps by steps demonstration of mixed digital painting to nurture students on both individual techniques and strategies for combining techniques. Reinforcing the principles of traditional painting skills and unveil new ways of thinking, observing and being more innovative.
The seminars by industry guests are a part of Limkokwing University partnerships for youths in building a better world through industry ready graduates.
