Schools get coupons for KTS-STIHL charity car wash

-

SIBU: Five Chinese independent schools here yesterday received carwash coupons for the ‘Charity Car Wash’ event organised to mark the 50th partnership anniversary between KTS Group of Companies and prestigious German power tool company STIHL.

KTS deputy managing director Temenggong Dato Vincent Lau handed out the coupons to representatives of Kiang Hin Middle School, Catholic High School, Wong Nai Siong Middle School, Guong Ming Middle School and Citizen Middle School at KTS headquarters here.

According to Lau, the five schools are among a total of 23 Chinese independent schools in Sabah and Sarawak to benefit from the charity event, which will be held from January next year.

“The schools are tasked to sell the coupons to the public. The target is to sell 15,000 carwash coupons worth RM30 each to raise RM450,000, and KTS will top up the amount on a ‘2-to-1’ basis and give RM900,000,” Lau said.

According to him, six of the 23 schools are located in rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak.

For these schools, Lau said KTS will donate an additional RM150,000 – RM25,000 for each school.

“So total funds to be raised from the event will be RM1.5 million,” he said.

Lau reiterated that throughout its establishment, KTS has emphasised corporate social responsibility while building the group’s business.

“KTS will do its best as far as corporate social responsibility is concerned,” he said.

The charity event is the third organised by KTS to help Chinese independent schools.

The charity event will be at KTS Garden in Kuching on Jan 13 and 14; Sibu Town Square Phase 2 in Sibu on Jan 20 and 21; Bintulu (location to be announced) on Jan 27 and 28; Miri (location to be announced) on Feb 3 and 4; Kota Kinabalu (location to be announced) on March 10 and 11; Yu Yuan Secondary School in Sandakan on March 17 and 18; and Sabah Chinese High School in Tawau on March 24 and 25.
