Hole-in-one prizes worth RM700,000 at charity golf tourney
KOTA KINABALU: Hole-in-one prizes worth around RM700,000 will be awaiting lucky winners at The Head of State Corporate Charity Cup golf tournament to be held at the Sutera Harbour Marina, Golf and Country Club (SHMGCC) on October 14.
Yayasan Tun Jauhar chairman, Haji Al Hambra Tun Juhar, said four hole-in-one prizes will be put up at the third edition of the tournament.
It includes a Mercedes Benz GLA 200 sponsored by Hap Seng Star and voucher worth RM380,000 to purchase a three-storey bungalow at Taman Putra Pogun, courtesy of DOCOMO Development Sdn Bhd.
The other two prizes include a YAMAHA Inpres UD2+ golf set worth RM12,400 from MST Golf and Kota Kinabalu-London Business Class flight tickets for two, sponsored by Malaysia Airlines.
“The tournament has received overwhelming response as we are closing in on the target of 250 participants.
“There are several more flights left and those who are interested in taking part may contact the organiser,” he said here yesterday.
“Apart from individual entry, the focus of the tournament will be on team entry of four golfers per team. The three best scores among the team members will make up their overall scores based on the 18-hole Nett StrokePlay format.
“There will be two sessions in the upcoming tournament where the first tee-off will be at 7.30am and the second tee-off time is at 12.30pm, both of which will commence via gunshot,” said Al Hambra, who added that the tournament is jointly organised by Yayasan Tun Jauhar and Sutera Harbour Resort (SHR).
“The tournament is held in conjunction with the 64th birthday celebration of Head of State Tun Dr Juhar Mahiruddin, who is also the patron SHMGCC and Yayasan Tun Jauhar.
“After the tournament, there will also be a Gala Nite and prize presentation at the Grand Ballroom of The Magellan Sutera Resort starting at 7pm,” he added.
He also said that participants, companies or organisations can donate via the exclusive HSCCC Donation Package which is to play golf and attend the Gala Nite.
The packages offered comprise Platinum (above RM25,000) whereby the contributor can enter five golf teams and have five tables for the Gala Nite; Gold (above RM15,000) for three golf teams and three tables at Gala Nite; Silver (above RM10,000) for two golf teams and two table for Gala Nite; and Bronze (above RM5,000) for one golf team and one table for the Gala Nite.
“The funds raised from the event will be used to implement the charity activities of the Yayasan in aid of the community.
“We thank all who have confirmed their entries as well as those who had donated or contributed during the first and second editions of the tournament,” he said.
