M’sia, Indonesia undergo joint military exercises

TARAKAN, NORTH KALIMANTAN: One hundred and eighteen officers and personnel of other ranks of the Malaysian Army (ATM) and 130 officers and personnel of the Indonesian Army (TNIAD) successful­ly carried out the Kekar Malindo series 41AB/ 2017 joint exercises from Sept 27 until Oct 7.

This was a bilateral exercise held annually involving two phases, namely the Command Exercise (Eksesais Pos Pemerintah) and Battlefiel­d Ground Exercise (Eksesais Trup Medan).

The objective of the exercise was to test the commander and staff officers in the infantry battalion and combined forces in joint operations, enhancing the ability of both parties to carry out operations in the context of Convention­al Warfare (CW) and to strengthen the spirit of friendship and close relationsh­ip between the two countries besides enhancing military preparedne­ss to face any future enemy threats.

As the training director, Malaysian Third Infantry Brigade Commander, Brig Gen Mohd Bustaman Mat Zin said at the closing ceremony yesterday that through this joint exercise Malaysia and Indonesia were able to provide a military force capable of acting and operating in various spectrum of warfare.

He also expressed his gratitude to the organisers of the Kekar Malindo series 41AB/ 2017 and hopes that the close relationsh­ip that existed between Malaysia and Indonesia remained the same in tackling enemy threats at the borders of both countries. - Bernama
