Siti Aisyah ran towards toilet 'shaking' her hands – Police

SHAH ALAM: "Siti Aisyah ran towards the toilet on Level 2, Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) whilst 'shaking' her hands, as if they were feeling hot," a police officer told the High Court here, yesterday.

Sepang/KLIA District senior investigating officer ASP Wan Azirul Nizam Che Wan Aziz said this when testifying in the murder case of Kim Chol, or Kim Jong-nam, the estranged halfbrother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

He said according to his observations based on a closedcircuit television recording (CCTV), Siti Aisyah rushed to the toilet after ‘attacking' Kim Chol.

Replying to a question from Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin during examination in-chief, Wan Azirul Nizam said Siti Aisyah also avoided holding the handrail of the escalator while descending from Level 3 to Level 2 to head to the toilet.

"According to the CCTV footage, Siti Aisyah came out of the toilet wearing a scarf drawn out of a backpack," he said.

He said the second accused, Vietnamese Doan Thi Huong, also appeared to be hurrying from the scene, with her hand gestures showing she was uncomfortable.

"She seemed to be avoiding her palms from touching her sleeves. She looked anxious and wanted to get out of there immediately.

"From my observation, Doan was well aware and knew what she needed to do after the attack, as she rushed to the toilet at Level 2, about 80 to 100 metres from the scene (on Level 3)," he said.

Wan Azirul Nizam said prior to entering the toilet, Doan's body movements showed she sometimes raised her hands, and at other times kept it down, all the while avoiding them touching her body or clothes.

"She went into the toilet at 9.02am, but came out a minute later, and her hands now looked normal and more relaxed. However she was still walking fast, and headed straight to Level 1, to the Public Transport Hub while using her mobile phone, and then got out of the building to wait for a taxi.

"CCTV footage also showed that Doan had bought a taxi ticket at one of the ticket counters at 6.59am on the day of the incident, before the attack," he said, adding that Doan arrived at the taxi stand, where Siti Aisyah had also come, at 9.23am, in an anxious state, before boarding a taxi," he said.

Responding to Wan Shaharuddin's question, the witness said Siti Aisyah was also seen at the 'Bibik Heritage' restaurant on Level 2, talking to a man wearing a black hat and spectacles.

"The woman looked at ease... the man also ordered drinks, and while he was talking, he also gave a ticket to Siti Aisyah at 8.14am," he said.

Siti Aisyah, 25, and Doan, 28, have been charged with four others still at large, with murdering Kim Chol, 45, at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 Departure Hall at 9am on Feb 13.

The two accused were charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which carries the mandatory death sentence upon conviction.
