24-hour shop employee injured in robbery

IPOH: An employee of a 24-hour convenienc­e store suffered injuries on his head and left hand in a robbery at the store in Bandar Meru Raya on Thursday.

Ipoh police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said the 53-year-old man was sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital here and his condition was stable.

He said in the incident at about 4.15am, two suspects, who were wearing helmets, entered the shop and one of them attacked the victim using an iron rodlike object.

“The victim fell down and the other suspect took the money from the cash register and cigarettes from the counter,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Sum said the victim’s wife who was in a room inside the shop heard the noise and went out before a suspect snatched her mobile phone. - Bernama
