Man admits to raping his 15-year-old girlfriend

KUCHING: A man, 24, who tested positive for methamphetamine admitted to raping his 15-year-old girlfriend at his home in Jalan Padungan since December 2016.

Kuching District police chief Abang Ahmad Abang Julai who confirmed the case said the arrest was made by the roadside at Jalan Wan Abdul Rahman at 10am on Oct 12 by a team from Kuching District Criminal Investigations Department (CID) led by ASP Austin Patrick Angkon.

Early investigations by the police revealed that the girl admitted to the sexual relationship that started in Dec 2016 after they connected on 'Wechat'.

"The girl also admitted that they had been going out on dates and that she had missed school to go out with the suspect," said Abang Ahmad yesterday.

Two mobile phones were seized from the suspect during the arrest and the case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.

Abang Ahmad said the girl's mother found out about the rape when she was called to the school on Sept 29 to claim her daughter's mobile phone which was confiscated by the school's disciplinary teacher.

The disciplinary teacher had browsed through the mobile phone's photo gallery and was shocked to see pictures of the girl in bed with a man (suspect).
