JOHOR BAHRU: Al Mubarak Health Sdn Bhd, the manufacturer of instant coffee under the Kopi Badang brand name, wants to become the number one instant coffee producer in the market and aims to expand more aggressively to foreign markets in three to five years.

Its Managing Director, Dr Ballan Paraman said since the product was officially launched in May last year, the response was very encouraging not only in the local market but it also received demand from several countries including China.

Operating at a two-storey building in Skudai with 7,000 square feet (sq ft) of space which also houses an office, coffee production centre and store, Ballan said currently, its fully mechanised operation was able to produce 200 kilogrammes of coffee products, which is equivalent to 18,000 sachets at any one time.

He said in view of the increasing number of orders, the company had planned to buy a factory in Pasir Gudang covering a 10,000 sq ft area which has the capacity to produce 500,000 sachets daily.

“We are going to sign an agreement with a state-linked company from China for ‘Kopi Badang Kacip Fatimah Collagen’ and ‘Kopi Badang Tongkat Ali’. The company will market our products exclusively beginning next year,” he told Bernama at his office recently. — Bernama
