Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman said that the State Government of Sabah fully supports the setting up of the Honorary Consulate in Kota Kinabalu.

“You have found a good candidate to be appointed as your Honorary Consul for Sabah. I have known Mr Vincent Tan for many years and I know he is capable of discharging his duties as expected,” he said at the launching of the Czech Honorary Consulate in Kota Kinabalu last night.

Musa’s speech was delivered by Deputy Chief Minister cum Industrial Development Minister Datuk Seri Raymond Tan.

He added that on the economic and business front, Sabah had undergone tremendous development in the past few years.

The state has seen an increase in foreign tourist arrivals, robust economic and business activities particularly in the areas of infrastructure development, downstream processing of palm oil, renewable energy and more recently green technologies.

“I am pleased to learn from the Honorable Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Martin Tlapa that Czech Republic is strong in the fields of green technology, alternative energy sources, water and waste management, as well as advanced technologies for agriculture and food processing.

“These are all relevant sectors which Sabah is interested in and we can explore the possibility of collaboration between Czech and Sabah companies in these sectors. The setting up of the Honorary Consulate will facilitate and boost such ventures,” he said.
