Hotel promotes healthy lifestyle

KOTA KINABALU: Hyatt Regency Kinabalu promotes healthy lifestyle among the local community through its first Fitness and Wellness Journey program.

The program was held in conjunctio­n with the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which started on Friday until yesterday.

On the first day, the event began with a closed private session of fitness regimen for the hotel associates and followed by an open session for the public on Saturday.

Two fitness instructor­s, James Wong and Alice Kuit Freeman, were invited to conduct the exercise sessions.

An RYT 2OO-certified Yoga Alliance teacher and trainer who runs his own yoga and Pilates School, Wong has more than 15 years of yoga practice and ten years of teaching experience.

Alice is a Nirvana Fitness education specialist; an Athletics and Fitness Associatio­n of America (AFAA) certificat­ion specialist and a Fatburn Extreme regional master trainer.

Wong conducted basic yoga exercise of releasing tight tension muscles while Alice led the participan­ts on breathing right with nirvana fitness.

The instructor­s showed the participan­ts on how the fitness regimen linked to preventing breast cancer from recurring.

Other than that, Dr Shazwani Shabudin from the Radiothera­py and Oncology Department of Hospital Likas was also invited to give a talk on breast cancer awareness.

The talk was to give the participan­ts more insights into how to prevent the disease from occurring.

“I hope that our guests had a wonderful time during the event. I want our guests to look fabulous yet have fun while getting fit.

“I hope guests and associates alike were inspired to prioritize their wellbeing, not only this event but for the rest of their lives,” said the Hyatt Assistant Public Relations Manager Ervina Masduki, who is also the head organizer of the program.

The participan­ts also enjoyed lucky draw prizes which offered winning prizes such as compliment­ary accommodat­ion at Hyatt Regency Kinabalu, a compliment­ary lunch or dinner buffet at Tanjung Ria Kitchen, and a compliment­ary massage at Avantang Spa.

A total of 27 lucky draw prizes were won by participat­ing guests, which included prizes sponsored by Borneo Natural Beads and Gokul Yoga.

Meanwhile outside the ballroom, the event sponsors such as Sally Lee B Wellness, Green Borneo, Mitchukis Art and Kinabalu Pink Ribbon Society set up booths to promote their products to guests, which included foods and beverages, natural crystals, yoga attire and herbal soaps.

Around 100 guests attended the event yesterday in support for the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

All proceeds from the event would be donated to the Kinabalu Pink Ribbon Society, to help promote breast cancer awareness in Sabah.
