Could MH370 have gone into a time warp?

-

THE disappearance of flight MH370 on March 8, 2014 is still unsolved, and this strange event in aviation has made world history with Malaysia in the centre of it all. Is the disappearance a bad omen for the future of Malaysia? What we know is that Malaysia Airlines MH17 was shot down a few months later on July 17, while on a scheduled passenger flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur. The horror happened as the airliner was flying over eastern Ukraine, killing all 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.

And then the following year, the 1MDB scandal broke out, starting off a long series of exposes which by now have tainted Malaysia’s previously admirable image on the world stage.

But let’s go back to the issue of what really happened to MH370. Why has it not been found after three years of searches involving 26 nations, more than 40 ships and a similar number of aircraft from at least eight countries, that covered areas totalling hundreds of thousands of square kilometres?

The Toronto Sun, among other newspapers, expressed its bafflement, seeing the mystery of the continuing mystery of the disappearance as ‘almost inconceivable’. Despite other methods such as studying satellite imagery and investigating ocean drifts after debris from the plane washed ashore on islands in the eastern Indian Ocean and the east coast of Africa, the 1,046day search was called off by the governments of Malaysia, China and Australia on January 17, 2017.

All sorts of bizarre conspiracy theories had been proposed as the explanations, one of which is that the plane had landed on Diego Garcia, a remote island on the Indian Ocean, or that it was abducted by aliens. Some people have claimed that there was a UFO spotted on radar prior to the plane’s disappearance.

Because some debris ‘from the aircraft’ have been found, the assumption is that the aircraft had crashed. But what if we can believe that the debris found were not conclusively to be from the airliner? What if there is another out-of-this-world explanation for the disappearance?

One possibility, I think, hasn’t been proposed, i.e. that it could have gone into a time warp. A time warp, as I understand it, is a point in the special realm into which an object can slip into and go into a different time zone.

This may sound like the wild stuff of science fiction, but it’ in fact not as outlandish as it sounds. Believe it or not, there have been quite a number of bizarre cases of planes disappearing into thin air, with some reappearing decades later in places far away from where they were meant to be!

A famous case is the one involving a plane that was like a flying phantom out of Twilight Zone. It was a chartered DC-4 aircraft with 57 passengers on board which landed in Caracas, Venezuela, in 1992 -- 37 years after its disappearance in 1955 during a flight from New York to Miami!

Unfortunately for investigators, the plane took off again within a few minutes and disappeared like a ghost into the sky, never to be seen again. The recording of its communication with the control tower and the testimonies of those who witnessed the landing attested to the veracity of this strange event.

“I saw the plane ... I heard the voice of the pilot. I even carried a calendar, but still cannot believe it,” said Juan de la Corte, who clearly saw everything that happened from his post on the tower control flight. “These people aboard still thought they were in 1955 and they had landed in Florida. But it was not. God knows where they have been all these years.”

Another bizarre case was the one involving a Panair Do Brasil flight which took off in 1946. To quote from http:// thegreathumanpuzzle.com: “The plane took off from Rio de Janeiro with a planned landing in Havana, Cuba. It disappeared, as in vanished, mid flight. The right thing to suspect is the plane crashed, but after extensive searching for the wreckage, nothing was found.

“Then in December 1993, [47 years later] at the airport in Bogota, Columbia, the plane landed with 36 skeletons and no living pilot. The event started when the plane appeared on the radar and began landing towards the airport. The airport staff made several requests to abort the landing but the plane made the approach anyway. This resulted in evasive actions from another plane that was attempting to land on the same runway. The plane landed, not crashed, which is when the authorities entered the plane to see who was in control. What they found were the skeletons.”

There were 92 human skeletons, but they had warm coffee cups, cigarettes of lighted and newspapers dated September 21, 1946 and whose ink smelled as they had been printed out the day before!

Another famous incident was the baffling disappearance of “Flight 19” which remains as one of the most mysterious disappearances in the notorious area called Bermuda Triangle. Flight-19 was the code name for Five Avenger bomber planes that took off from the Naval base at Florida on December 5, 1945, but never returned. The flight was led by Commander Charles Taylor who radioed that their compasses were malfunctioning, that they “Cannot see land, we seem to be off course.”

Other than these, there had also been many other still unsolved cases of planes disappearing. In the Bermuda Triangle, even ships had vanished inexplicably. Also known as the “Devil’s Triangle”, is said to have claimed at least 1,000 human lives, 20 planes and 50 ships in the past 100 years. On average, five planes continue to go missing in the area each year!

We tend to believe only in the rational and scientific realities of life, and brush aside thoughts of the mysterious, the inexplicable. But such events do happen, and as such, are part of our worldly existence.

Knowing all those historical facts of mysterious disappearances, and in some cases reappearances, can we not also imagine that MH370 may one day reappear, hopefully with the passengers in good health and not as skeletons?
