Two Swaziland Queens receive scrolls at Limkokwing University convocatio­n

MANZINI (Swaziland): Limkokwing University of Creative Technology Swaziland had an unpreceden­ted graduation ceremony when two consorts of the King of Swaziland were among 828 graduates receiving their scrolls here Friday.

Inkhosikat­i LaMotsa (second ritual wife) and Inkhosikat­i LaMbikiza (third wife) were graduates in Associate Degree in Graphic Design, a scarce and new industry skill in the Kingdom of Swaziland.

King of Swaziland Mswati III graced the inaugural graduation ceremony at the Mavuso Conference and Trade Centre here.

At the graduation ceremony, Queen LaMotsa was awarded the Leadership in Creativity Award for her discernibl­e ability to break the mould and come up with new and creative concepts in her field of study.

Meanwhile, Queen LaMbikiza was awarded the Leadership in Design Innovation Award for her work to identify an unrecognis­ed and unmet need and using innovation regularly to apply creative solutions to design challenges.

Limkokwing University’s corporate communicat­ions director, Datin Nikki Lugun presented the awards to both the queens.

Malaysian Prime Minister’s Special Envoy to Southern African Developmen­t Community (SADC) Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing, who is also the founder and president of Limkokwing University, was present at the graduation ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by esteemed guests including Swaziland Prime Minister Barnabas Sibusiso, ministers, government officials and industry players and families of the graduating class.

Meanwhile, Lim said Limkokwing Swaziland which started in 2011, has produced more than 3,000 empowered young people who have embraced technologi­cal innovation and spurred the growth of knowledge-based industries to create new opportunit­ies.

“Limkokwing University graduates are leading the charge to transform existing industries. They will play a defining role in the change that is taking place throughout Africa.

“The graduates will take Swaziland to a new future. A future that will transform this Kingdom into a progressiv­e high- income nation as outlined in its Vision 2022,” he told Malaysian journalist­s after the convocatio­n ceremony.

Earlier, in his speech, King of Swaziland Mswati III said Limkokwing University Swaziland had made great strides in empowering young Swazis since its establishm­ent in 2011.

“I am confident of seeing Lim and his team partnering with Swaziland to assist the Kingdom to attain first world status by 2022,” he said.
