KOTA KINABALU: KTS Group and Stihl are jointly organizing a series of charity car wash to raise funds for 23 Chinese independent secondary schools in Sabah and Sarawak.

The event is held to mark the 50 years of business partnership between KTS Group and Stihl.

A total of 15,000 car wash coupons, priced at RM30 each, will be distributed to the teachers and students of the 23 schools, members of the public and community associations.

Sale of the coupons will raise RM450,000 for the schools.

On top of that, KTS Group will contribute another RM900,000 on a two-to-one basis to the fund, and donate a total of RM150,000 to six rural Chinese independent secondary schools.

This will boost the sum of education fund to the tune of RM1.5 million for the 23 schools in East Malaysia.

The series of charity car wash will be held in seven locations beginning in January 2018 in Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Tawau.

Schools in each location will assign their teachers and students to assist in a two-day car wash from 8am to 4pm. Members of the public who bought the coupons will have their vehicles washed using Stihl high-pressure cleaner by the students under the supervision of professionals.

KTS hopes that this meaningful event will not only be supported by the public, but also encourage more community associations to organize fund-raising activities for Chinese independent secondary schools.

There are also attractive lucky draw prizes to be won at the event.

KTS Trading Sdn Bhd Sabah Area Operation Manager Wong Kee Mee said a total of 4,500 coupons will be distributed in Sabah.

He said the event would allow students to contribute in raising funds for their schools and gain invaluable experience in the process.

“Sabah Tshung Tsin Secondary School (STTSS), Sekolah Menengah Kian Kok, Yu Yuan Secondary School, Sandakan and Sabah Chinese High School, Tawau will be taking part in the activity.

“KTS Group will also hand over donations to smaller Chinese independent secondary schools at the end of the event.”

The activity will be carried out at KTS Garden in Kuching on Jan 13 and 14; Sibu Town Square Phase 2 in Sibu on Jan 20 and 21; Bintulu community hall on Jan 27 and 28; Marina Bay, Miri on Feb 3 and 4; Kota Kinabalu Foochow Association on March 10 and 11; Yu Yuan Secondary School in Sandakan on March 17 and 18; and Sabah Chinese High School in Tawau on March 24 and 25.
