CM encourages more business visits between Sabah and Taiwan
KOTA KINABALU: Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman looks forward to having more bilateral business visits between Sabah and Taiwan.
Musa said he had been to Taiwan several times and described it as a beautiful and progressive place.
He said there were Sabahans doing business in Taiwan and vice versa.
“We hope to see more business visits between Sabah and Taiwan,” Musa said during a courtesy call by a delegation from the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International) Taiwan, Taoyuan Club here on Sunday evening.
The Taiwanese delegates were here to attend the Sabah Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Association (SWEPA) 12th Installation and Charity Gala Dinner.
On behalf of the State Government, Musa welcomed the BPW International Taoyuan Club members to Sabah.
He said Sabah is a beautiful state which was popular among tourists from Taiwan, China and South Korea, among other countries.
Musa said about 400,000 tourists from China visited Sabah last year and the number could reach one million next year.
He also hoped that the Taiwanese delegates would return to visit Sabah in the future.
Meanwhile, president of the Malaysian Friendship and Trade Centre (MFTC), Taipei, Datuk Adeline Leong said around 450,000 Malaysians visited Taiwan and 300,000 Taiwanese visited Malaysia in the previous year.
“We are trying to get more Taiwanese to Sabah,” the Swepa past president said.
Also present were Musa's spouse Puan Sri Faridah Tussin, Swepa president Datuk Aminah Ambrose, charter president Datuk Nancy Ho, outgoing president Wynnie Jong, past president Dolly Jimayol and BPW International Taoyuan Club president Mandy Tsai.
The BPW International Taoyuan Club delegation handed over a donation of RM5,600 to Swepa during the charity gala dinner.
