Danfoss aims to outperform Asean’s drives market

-

PETALING JAYA: Danfoss, a world leader in variable speed control of electric motors, aimed to outperform Asean’s drives market growth demand by three to four times better, by next year.

President for Asia-Pacific, Sorenson Kvorning, said the industry itself was growing at an annual growth sales of three to four per cent and Danfoss seemed to have a better chance since it entered the region at lower base.

“Compared to other regions, Danfoss’ presence in Asean was relatively at a lower base.

“We are going to see double-digit growth in turnover for this region starting this year,” he said after launching the inaugural Danfoss’ Drives Energy-Efficiency Tour yesterday.

The tour will cover 20 cities in three countries – Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand – to showcase solutions such as VLT drives and Vacon drives, that can be deployed by industries to achieve energy efficiency from the perspective of cost saving as well as reduced carbon emissions.

Kvorning said among Danfoss’ sectoral focus for drives for the region were heavy-duty industry sectors like manufacturing, buildings, food, industry, chemicals and mining.

He said Danfoss’ drives solution could offer an average cost-savings of at least between 15 and 25 per cent, depending on type of industry and the (drives) application.

Kvorning said Asean was a major global hub of manufacturing and trade where the manufacturing, industry and services sectors were increasing demand for electricity, including in Malaysia.

“As the Asean region is well on track to be the world’s fourth-largest economy by 2050 and it is one of the fastest-growing consumer markets in the world, this presents an opportunity for Danfoss to help customers in energy-intensive industries, including manufacturing, buildings, cement, food and beverage and industry sectors implement energy efficiency solutions to enhance process optimisation for sustainable, reliable and efficient operations.

Kvorning said Asia had contributed an average of 21 per cent of total Danfoss’ global revenue last year and the company was investing in its human capital and talent to strengthen its front line engineering as well as on customer service while increasing its visibility focus in Asean.
