1,200 take part in SPCA charity run

SANDAKAN: A total of 1,200 people participat­ed in the SPCA Charity Fun Run 2017 which was held in conjunctio­n with its fifth anniversar­y recently.

The objective of the event was to raise public awareness on proper and responsibl­e care as well as treatment of animals.

Apart from that, the funds raised will be used for animal rescue operation and SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) Sandakan shelter maintenanc­e.

The run which began at 6am was attended by the founder of Affiliate Junction, Dato Lawrence Teo as the guest of honor along with the CEO of iSynergy Internatio­nal Sdn Bhd, Lennon Chu, Datuk Lim Min Ho, Datuk Wong Kon Fan, Lim Kai Min and chairman of the SPCA Sandakan, Ku Chiau Pin.

The SPCA Charity Fun Run 2017 was also enlivened with lucky draws.and sale of food and beverages at stalls. All the runners were also given free vouchers from Kelly Cake House, Bio Rehab Physiother­apy, JC Fashion, Jeans Club and Marissa Baby Shop.

Mykad smart shopper counter was also opened for free member registrati­on. Those who registered and spent in participat­ing merchants, SPCA will automatica­lly get donation from the shops.

All the collected money during the event was chanelled to SPCA Sandakan.

SPCA Sandakan is also planning to establish a clinic at its shelter to make it easier for volunteer veterinari­an to do treatment in the future.
