Use chamber's resources to enter China market call
HONG KONG: Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce (MCCC) Sabah Branch president Datuk Frankie Liew has urged Sabahan enterprises to leverage on its resources and advantages to assist local products in penetrating into the China market.
Liew said the chamber could provide its network or connections to help members and businesses that were keen to set foot in the Chinese market.
He said this at Yuya product launch event, a canned food brand under Felcra Livestock and Agri Products Sdn Bhd.
Woohoo Enterprise Ltd, a company owned by MCCC life member, has been appointed by Felcra Livestock and Agri Products Sdn Bhd as the sole distributor of Yuya products for China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Liew hoped that Woohoo Enterprise would also bring Halal food produced in Sabah into the China, Hong Kong and Taiwan markets.
“Malaysia produces a wide variety of quality seafood, which have always been the preferred choice of many Hong Kongese.
“Hong Kong can serve as the point of entry for Yuya products into the massive China market,” he said.
Liew said many members of the chamber were involved in the logistics, import/export, agriculture and food industries.
In recent years, he said the chamber has been working on establishing close relations with relevant government departments, and connections with provincial governments and companies in China.
As such, Liew said MCCC Sabah Branch could serve as a platform to gather and disseminate information, as well as being a link between Malaysia and China.
He said Woohoo Enterprise had demonstrated how a company could promote local products to the overseas market through cooperation with a government-linked company (GLC), coupled with the company's wide network and marketing strategies.
Liew was one of the ribboncutting VIPs at the Yuya product launch. The invited guests also had the opportunity to sample delicious meals made from Yuya products.
He believed that Malaysian food products would be able to secure its own positioning in the vast Chinese market and attract a large following.
Also present was Federal Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority Bhd (Felcra) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.
