KOTA KINABALU: The Kinabalu Pink Ribbon outreach team visited Kg. Lebong in Nabalu and conducted breast talks and other health checks for the villagers there.

Accompanying the team were medical professionals and nurses from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, KPJ Damai and other related NGOs. More than 100 people came forward for the free services provided.

Breast Health Talks were also conducted at some major hotels and corporates both in KK and Tawau before and during the October breast cancer awareness month to drive the message home.

Women are taught the technique of breast selfexamination as “Early detection saves lives”.

A significant KPR event, the Tawau Pinktober Run is held every year in conjunction with this awareness month.

This year's event on Oct 15 attracted more than 2,000 participants from all over particularly one lady who flew in from New Zealand especially for this event.

KPR Tawau chairperson Christy Salazar said she fully valued the support rendered by the local community for our cause in raising the level of breast cancer awareness among the womenfolk.

The Pinktober Run has become a hallmark event in turning the Tawau Padang Pink as participants come in their pinkiest, most creative gear and win prizes for doing so.
