Sabah Single Mothers Association to hold talks Nov 8
TAMBUNAN: The Sabah state-level single mothers program, in conjunction with the welfare month, will be held at Pisompuruan Square here, on Nov 8.
The program, organized by the Sabah Single Mothers Association in collaboration with the District Office, is expected to be officiated by the political secretary to the Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water, Datuk Daniel Kinsik.
District Officer Thomas Logijin yesterday said among the activities to be held included aerobics, Manangon in the Dusun language, and English Coral Speaking.
“The forum and talks would also be held with panels from the Health Department, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) on ‘ Sexual Violence Against Children’,” he said.
In addition, he said the program would involve the participation of trainees from the Community Rehabilitation Center (PDK) in sports activities as well as a health inspection and blood donation campaign on that day.
Thomas, who is also the chairman of the program’s coordinating committee, said more than 200 participants would be involved in the program with the involvement of government departments and agencies, community leaders, political parties, non-governmental organizations, and school students.
“I urge the people, including those from other areas around the Upper Interior, to be present to participate in the program.”
The program, he said, was decided at the coordinating committee meeting held here recently and was attended by the president of the Sabah Single Mother Association, Noorhanida Anol, Assistant District Officer (Administration) Atilin Doniu, District Health Officer Dr. Evelyn Sungip, and heads of federal and state departments of Tambunan.
