Sports Science vital to produce professional coaches – Rosmah

-

KUALA LUMPUR: Former National athletes who have brought fame to the country through their performances will be presented with an opportunity to share their experience and expertise by becoming professional coaches by pursuing Sports Science Courses offered by the National Sports Institute (ISN) and National Athletes Welfare Foundation (Yakeb).

Yakeb patron Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor said through the Level One Sports Science Course offered under the Program Inisiatif Pendidikan Berterusan by ISN and Yakeb, the country would be able to produce many high quality professional coaches from among former athletes who will be equipped with vast knowledge in the field of coaching.

Rosmah said the objective of the Level One Sports Science Course was to train and equip coaches with knowledge in sports science that would be relevant for their advancement in coaching, especially with the rapid progress in coaching techniques.

“I believe to become a coach, you need to be equipped with sports science knowledge. Applying sports science to train budding athletes or athletes with potential will be effective for their progress.

“I therefore, urge all Yakeb members and former athletes to seize the opportunity to enhance their knowledge in sports science,” she said when opening the Program Inisiatif Pendidikan Berterusan-Kursus Sains Sukan Tahap 1 at Dewan Perdana ISN, Bukit Jalil, here yesterday.

Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, ISN chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Azim Mohd Zabidi and ISN chief executive officer Dr Mohd Khairi Zawi. - Bernama
