Govt to fulfil promises made
SANDAKAN : Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Haji Aman said the state government was committed to fulfil promises made to the people.
Speaking at the ‘Leaders with the People Program’ at Kampung Tinusa yesterday, Musa said both the federal and state governments had planned various development programs for the people and had promised to implement them.
“The government has planned various development programs, carried out their implementation and gave out assistance, and these will continuously be shouldered by the government as long as the people put their trust in the government.
“Although there are still some promises yet to be fulfilled, a promise is a promise - the government will certainly fulfil them.
“That is the reason why we are always going to the ground, visiting all districts in the state in order to identify the people’s needs, “he said.
He believed people are wise to judge which parties had brought them development and assistance and thus capable of governing the country.
Musa said Sabah had never been neglected by the federal government and this is evident in the huge assistance allocated through Budget 2018.
“With this allocation, I believe dilapidated schools and basic necessities such as clean water and electricity, especially in rural areas, will remain as our top priority,” he added.
Musa reminded the people in Sabah including members of Umno and Barisan Nasional component parties not to be influenced by opposition parties.
According to him, opposition parties were not only troubled with issues, their leaders were also plagued with personal problems.
He said opposition parties would only emerge during election and use all kinds of slander and promises to gain support.
“We have to evaluate which parties have a good track record in fulfilling pledges. I am confident Sabahans know what is good for them,” he said.
Meanwhile, Musa urged the younger generation in this district to wisely grab the opportunity to enhance their learning with the establishment of the Education Hub here.
He said cost was not an obstacle for students in this district to further their studies as the district was now equipped with higher learning institutions such as Sandakan Polytechnic, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, and Maktab Rendah Sains Mara.
