No ‘blame game' in pursuit of devt — Raymond

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah would not play the “blame game” in its pursuit of the state's development, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Raymond Tan Shu Kiah.

Raymond, who is also state Industrial Development Minister, stressed the state takes the level of professionalism and focus on talent upscale among engineers and everyone involved very seriously.

He said the level of work in the development of Sabah should not only be at the highest level but also uncompromising in all related aspects as the state does not want any parties to start finger-pointing should anything go wrong.

“I have mentioned that we will not, as far as Sabah is concerned, play any blame game. Not like any other places,” said Raymond at a press conference after the BEM Roadshow 2017 launch and MoU signing ceremony with UMS here on Thursday.

“We want our work to be in collaboration with, if not under supervision of professional people, and we look at this aspect quite seriously,” he stressed.

He emphasized that professionalism is key, especially among professional engineers, who also need to upscale their talents.

Raymond said Malaysia's over 102,000 registered graduate engineers can be developed into professionals.

“I think that number can grow but it must grow with good level of professionalism, and I think that would probably be the work of BEM to make sure,” added Raymond.
