Mongolian woman charged with prostituti­on

KOTA KINABALU: A Mongolian woman claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for allegedly providing sex service to a 22-year-old man.

Gan Khuyang Uranbaigal­i, 27, who appeared before magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie, faces a charge under Section 372B of the Penal Code.

The accused, who was defended by counsel Alex Lee, is liable to a maximum jail of one year or a fine or both, upon conviction.

The accused had allegedly solicited for the purpose of prostituti­on in the room of a hotel in Penampang at 4pm on October 27.

The court fixed November 15 this year for case management.

In an unrelated case, an unemployed Indonesian man Buadi Ali was jailed for 20 months by the same court after he pleaded guilty to possessing an identity card of a local man.

The 30-year-old accused was arrested at Jalan Sepanggar in Manggatal on October 27 for having the Malaysian identity card under the name of Mohd Idzuan Abd Wahad bearing the numbers 960726-12-6963.

The offence was under Section 25 (1) (o) of the National Registrati­on Regulation­s 1990 which is punishable by a jail term of up to three years or a fine, upon conviction.

The magistrate also ordered the accused to be referred to the Immigratio­n Department after serving his jail term for further action.
