PBB’s ‘Squad Sayang’ now called ‘Squad Kasih Sayang’

-

SERIAN: Squad Sayang of the Women Wing of Parti Pesaka Bumiputra Bersatu (PBB) is now rebranded and to be called ‘Squad Kasih Sayang’.

Minister of Welfare, Community Well-Being, Women, Family and Child Development Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah in announcing this said: “We thought that ‘Kasih Sayang’ is ideal as it came from a very well-liked song by the Chief Minister sung by an Indonesian band The Favourite’s which is always played as he arrives at a function venue these days.

“I think it is an honour to change the name to Squad Kasih Sayang and with the new squad name we also have a new tag line for it - ‘Touches the Heart, Cultivates the Mind’,” she added.

She said this before the launching of the “Program Kepimpinan MPWK (Majlis Pembangunan Wanita & Keluarga) Dan Squad Kasih Sayang for N23 Bukit Semuja”, held at Dewan Masyarakat Serian here yesterday.

Fatimah stated that the rebranding for the PBB Squad Sayang was necessary as UMNO also has its Squad Sayang.

She added that the squad was set up by the party as a channel to help the poor and the needy in the state irrespective of race and religious background.

“We want to be remembered in doing good deeds for those who cannot fend for themselves and to help those who faced personal disaster so that they will be able to stand on their two feet again,” she said.

Fatimah wanted to see that all Squad Kasih Sayang leaders knew their role and portray a good image so that they will be proud in doing their work.

There must be responsibility and accountability in doing your duties to others. A leader must always show responsibilities and integrity all the times, she advised.

She later handed food hampers to five selected recipients recommended by Squad Kasih Sayang Bukit Semuja.

Earlier, the assemblyman for Bukit Semuja John Ilus said that the setting up of Squad Kasih Sayang in his constituency was carried out at the right time.

He commended the squad for the work especially in helping the community who are very much in need of welfare assistance.

Also present were a Political Secretary to the chief minister Fridah Osman, Serian District officer Lim Hock Meng and Women chief of Squad Kasih Sayang for N23 Bukit Semuja Jenny Jita.
