Bank Rakyat Foundation allocates RM550,000 sponsorship for continuous learning
KUALA LUMPUR: The Bank Rakyat Foundation (YBR) has this year allocated a RM550,000 sponsorship to enable 25 Bank Rakyat employees pursue further studies in the field of finance and Islamic banking.
YBR general manager Norashikin Shaharudin said the distance learning programme organised in collaboration with the Centre for Professional and Continuing Education Universiti Utara Malaysia (PACE UUM) would give staff the opportunity to continue their studies while working.
"This programme will not only provide tertiary education to enhance job and knowledge skills but will also cultivate a business culture that encourages lifelong learning regardless of age among Bank Rakyat employees, its subsidiaries and members.
"The PACE UUM learning modules especially the Islamic banking module is in line with current trends in the banking industry,” she told Bernama after witnessing the October 2017/2018 students' pledge at Bank Rakyat Twin Towers here yesterday.
She said since 2015 until this year some 103 Bank Rakyat employees had benefited from the YBR RM1.28 million sponsorship to further their studies.
Norashikin said YBR had always been committed to producing employees who were proficient in communications and able to use information and communication technology to promote higherorder thinking skills.
She said such employees were today needed to perform increasingly complex tasks by using innovation to improve on work processes with the use of new technologies.
At the event Norashikin also presented certificates of appreciation to students who were awarded Dean's list honour for semesters three and five.
Also present was PACE UUM director, Assoc Prof Dr Fairol Halim. - Bernama
